Irene is an international artist of Italian origins living since fiftheen years in different countries in Europe, India and China. She comes from a multidisciplinary artistic background of classical music (flute and voice), theatre and dance. Her artistic path develops under the influence of many different cultures and it is deeply intertwined with spiritual practices and philosophies, self-inquiry, healing techniques and ecology.
Her dance practice is mainly inspired by Contact Improvisation, Bodywork, Release, B.M.C., Yoga and Meditation Practices, Singing and Techniques of Improvisation for Performance.
The use of voice and live music have been part of her teachings and performances since many years.
She created Being Motion in 2011. Being Motion is a platform for research, co-creation and diffusion of her artistic practice mainly focused on Improvisation; there are coverging all her experiences, visions, artistic and educational projects.
She regularly offers workshops in schools, dance studios, yoga centers and cultural institutes in Sweden, India, China, Italy and Germany.
In Sweden, India and China she develops most of her work within educational programs in universities and professional dance centers such as :
Ltdx, “Minzu” and “Normal” Universities (Beijing)
Balletakademien (Stockholm), Ials (Rome), Gati (Delhi);
with dance companies such as Danceworx (Delhi/Mumbay), 9 Company ( Beijing), HouYing Dance Company ( Beijing) ;
She participates as teacher performer and musician
in numerous festivals all over the world:
Freiburg, Vienna, Poland, Ester Impro, CmC, Ibiza, NIM, Glarisegg, Goa, Malmö, Italy - Contact Improvisation festivals;
Avayava (Pune), Fico Journey (Slovenia) - Contemporary dance festival ;
No Mind, Yoda and Space of Love (Sweden), Mandala (Moscow) - Yoga festivals.
She usually perform collaborating with dancers and musicians in the frame of Improvisation combining movement, live music and spoken words.
She direct performances in association to her pedagogic programs,
collaborating with companies and visual artists.
